On my new, free Substack, I’m starting to post new stories in organized series. So far, I’ve posted drafts of stories in The Watch Chronicles, Tales of the Great Galleys, and The Story of War Wagon One.

*My main fiction project is a fantasy trilogy. I have published the three books in both eBook and paperback formats. I completed the draft of Book Three in February 2024 and a polishing revision on August 1, 2025. After receiving feedback from my first reader, I polished it again and then published it. Now, I’m working on building the multi-dimensional storytelling architecture for this website.

My original plan was to publish Book Three in November or December 2025. But the writing went well, and I lost a wrestling match against my impatience. So I pressed the publish buttons on August 16, 2025.

I’m working on building a multi-dimensional web of content, in particular for the main characters but also for other types of lore.

  • Novels–the main story arc unfolds in a trilogy of three novels.
  • Stories–I published stories on this site and on a free Substack.
  • Episodes–Brief episodes available only on this website
  • Interludes (only in book two so far)–Narrative scenes that advance the plotlines between stories
  • The Compendium–a collection of fictional nonfictional pieces.
  • The Blog–meta commentary on medieval research, genre

So for several years, I wrote short stories focused on individual characters and set in my created world. These stories were practice exercises in storytelling, character development, and worldbuilding. I learned a lot from writing them. I published several of the stories in online publicat
